Dead Horse Point can be described as a ‘Utah State Park’ crosswise from ‘Shafer Canyon Overlook’ in island of ‘Sky District’ of ‘Canyon lands National Park’. The trails consist of around 10 miles along the point’s rim giving views towards west and east. There stretches a segment to the Basin View from Visitor Center at a distance of around 1.5 mile from point. One can see the downstream of Colorado River of Moab, along with upstream of its confluence with Green River. An unusual site across the segment is series of ‘Blue Lagoons’ in canyon. The interpreter of the Visitor Center describes lagoons as beds used for drying potash, which is used as a fertilizer. The lagoons perform the task of injecting the water of Colorado River into deep beds of salt, thereby saturating water with the salt. It then gets evaporated by desert sun. Industry and wilderness follow by the side. Dead Horse Point stretches to further south. An identical trail permits views to south, along the down side of canyon, showing the ‘White Rim Road’ which is said to be coming down from Canyon lands. The western side consists of Colorado’s gooseneck. However, it cannot be observed from overlooks. Looking towards the western side, one can observe cars at ‘Shafer canyon Overlook’. The journey around point is around 1 mile. It gives some amazing views everywhere. The ‘Island in the Sky’ lies to the north of Canyon lands National Park. Thus, Canyon lands national Park is a place worth watching. Enjoy the bash at Canyon lands National Park. |
